2018 5th Grade Catapult Contest
Benton Grade School 5th grade students in Mr. Cantrell's science class competed Friday in a catapult contest.  The students had to research and build catapults to launch ping pong balls.  The students competed against each other to try to launch the ball the furthest.  
1st place received a $50 Walmart gift card and 2nd place got a free pizza and cookie from Pizza Hut.  Mr. Cantrell has been doing the contest for 12 years.  
Requirements:  Catapult can't weigh more then 10 pounds, cannot be longer then 18 inches, use a recycled item, has to have a trigger.

FIRST PLACE
Batista Carney and Elias Walker's catapult won 1st place with 55 feet 1 inch.

Nora Sanders had a distance of 50 feet for 2nd place.
