There are many traveling basketball teams in southern Illinois. But there is one town that does not have a traveling basketball team: Benton. Here are some reasons why Benton should have a traveling basketball team.

     First, It would make Benton youth better at basketball over the years. A study showed that 73% of NBA players once played on a traveling basketball team.  Many NBA coaches like Gregg Povovich and Steve Curr have all been quoted as saying “At the end of the season, you can't stop practicing” and a traveling basketball team would be a great way to keep practicing.

     Another reason we should have a travel basketball team is it would help kid lose weight. A study showed that 35.5% of people in the US are obese. But if you do a physical activity like basketball for 1 hour a day, not as many kids will be obese.

     My final reason for having a traveling basketball team is that we will have more competition. We can play Marion, West Frankfort and a lot of other schools. We will win trophies, medals, and it will be so fun.
