Has your phone ever rang in class? Or have you gotten an important message from your mom or dad and gotten your phone taken away? If so, this article is for you.

First, students should have cell phones in school in case of an emergency. At one school there was a shooting and an article published about the shooting said, "Teachers sent a text telling students to move outside when the intruder was at the opposite end of the building." If this would ever happen at Benton Grade School, wouldn't you want your parents to know that you're ok?

Most kids nowadays use their phones on a daily basis to help them find information or to entertain them. Most students will break the rule and still bring their phones into class because they bring their phone everywhere. A Pew Research Center study found that 65% of cell owning students and teens bring their phones to school despite any bans that may be in place. The Pew study also found that more students and teens would rather lose their pinkie toe than their phone.

Benton Grade School should also allow phones in class because of the GPS trackers that are in phones. Most parents love to know where their children are. Another Pew study noted that 48% of parents use their phones to monitor their children's locations. How many of your moms want to know where you are?

Some teachers still won't want their students to have phones in class because it is a distraction. But the real question is, wouldn't you want to be able to contact your parents in case of an emergency?
