Competitive Cheer in School

Do you like to tumble, cheer, dance, and do stunts? Then competitive cheer is for you! But there’s a problem. Most schools don’t support it, therefore you can't do competitive cheer unless you find a cheer place outside of school, which can be really difficult.

Competitive cheer should be a school sport. Competitive cheer is both fun and it helps you express yourself. It is a really good workout too. Unlike competitive cheer, in school cheer you just sit on the sidelines and do group cheers, which doesn’t give you the exercise you need to be a good cheerleader. In competitive cheer, you get to tumble, cheer, dance, do stunts, and you get to learn a REALLY fun and complex routine.

I personally am a competitive cheerleader. I am not a school cheerleader because, to me, it’s just not the same. My opinion is that it just doesn’t give you the freedom that competitive cheer gives you. In school cheer, you all have to do the same exact thing as everyone else, where as in competitive cheer you get to do a variety of different things, like difficult stunts, and you get to put on a really awesome routine for the audience.

Competitive cheer is REALLY fun and is a really complex sport. There are many different parts, and a big variety of ways to put your routine together.  I think the school should support competitive cheer. It gives us more freedom than sideline cheer. Competitive Cheerleading makes people think differently… "suddenly liberty isn’t just a statue in NY, pyramids aren’t just something you find in Egypt, and jumps are MORE than just a game of leapfrog." -Unknown
