Volleyball and Boys' Basketball tryout information:
Volleyball tryouts will be held on Monday, January 25th for the 8th grade team from 2:00-4:00 PM and the 7th grade team from 4:00-6:00 PM.
Boys’ Basketball tryouts will use the following schedule.
Tuesday, January 26th:
6th grade: 2:00 -3:30 PM
7th and 8th grade: 3:30-5:00 PM
Wednesday, January 27th:
6th grade: 2:00 - 3:00 PM
7th and 8th grade: 4:00-5:30 PM
*Masks are required for all athletes, coaches, and anyone else involved in athletic activities.
*Athlete’s should bring their own water bottle.
*Spectators are not permitted in tryouts or practices.
Schedules and details for all athletic seasons are still being finalized and will be provided as soon as they are completed. As always, check www.sijhsaa.com for additional information.
Information regarding Junior High sports for our 6th-8th grade students continues to change by the day. At this time, we have been given enough information to plan a volleyball season, while hoping a basketball season will take place. We are still waiting for SIJHSAA guidelines for spectators and season starting/ending dates. Up to date information will be passed along as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this time!

Sports Update: At this time there are still many questions to be answered, but athletic opportunities will be happing again at BGS starting tomorrow. I have updated the Volleyball and Boys' Basketball webpages with information about open gym and tryout (volleyball) schedules.
All athletes are required to have a current sports physical on file before participating in any activity. I have also attached schedules to this post in the "Live Feed" of the website. More information will be passed along as it becomes available.

This weekend brought a lot of changes to youth sports. I am waiting on an official announcement from the SIJHSAA, but it looks like our 6-8 students will have some athletic opportunities in the near future. I hope to have a more detailed announcement in the next couple of days. If you haven’t already done so, pleas make sure your athletes have a sports physical on file at the school.
Reminder: No school tomorrow, Monday, January 18th for the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Good morning Benton 47 parents. As a reminder, please self certify your students health before sending them to school. This is going to be very important moving forward. The next several months will be extremely challenging and we want to keep everybody safe and able to be at school everyday. Thank you.

5-8 Announcements for 1-5-2021
This is a reminder that school resumes for students on Tuesday January 5th. Our school day will remain the same with students attending school from 8:00 to 2:00 Monday through Thursday, and all students being remote on Fridays.
If your student is a remote learner returning to in-person, arrival and dismissal procedures as well as school supply lists can be found on the district’s web site.
All 5-8 student's schedules were mailed with report cards. If your students did not receive their schedule, they can get a copy Tuesday when they arrive.
