The boys game with Christopher scheduled for tonight has been canceled. The boys will practice after school until 4:30. Girls will practice as planned.
5-8 Announcements for 1/5/22:
The girls' basketball team will play a C game tonight @ Christopher starting at 5:30. The bus will leave at 5:00 PM from the Event Center.
The weekly basketball schedule for 1/3/22 is attached. The brackets for upcoming girls tournaments are attached in the previous post.
Girls’ Basketball brackets for the 7th grade conference tournament and regionals are attached. The 1st round game in the 7th grade tournament starts at 1:00 PM, not 2:00.
BGS Parents,
I want to thank you for a great semester with some truly outstanding kids! Today, we had a fantastic final day of the fall semester! I also want to thank our faculty and staff for the tremendous job they have done navigating the challenges the last two years have presented. We are really blessed to have such a marvelous staff at Benton #47. We look forward to seeing you January 4, 2022, to kick off what I believe will be an incredible spring term.

BGS Parents:
From the very beginning of the pandemic, our goals at Benton #47 focused on the following: 1). the health and safety of all students and staff, and 2). serving our students’ academic and social/emotional needs at the highest level possible through high quality, face-to-face instruction. As a result, we have celebrated numerous daily victories combined with a few setbacks along the way.
Over the last several weeks, a surge of COVID-19 combined with the spread of flu and other illnesses have had a significant impact on our ability to operate day-to-day. Our student and staff attendance numbers have reached a concerning level. Therefore, I have consulted with Bi-County Health Dept. and the Regional Office of Education #21 to implement an adaptive pause making our last day of school prior to Christmas break this Friday, December 17. We will return on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
I apologize for any inconvenience this might create. However, my hope is this will allow time for all those who are ill to safely heal in time to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.

The boys' basketball games against Du Quoin (12/15) and Carbondale (12/16) scheduled for this week have been canceled. Make-up dates will be announced once games are rescheduled.

5-8 Announcements for 12/10/21:
The Benton Grade School Winter Concert scheduled for tonight December 10th has been canceled due to the potential for severe weather.
It has been rescheduled for Monday December 13th with the choir starting at 6:00 followed by the band at 7:30.
The students have worked hard on these performances and we want to make sure we are able to enjoy the full concerts.
The boy's basketball games against Herrin tonight 12/9, and Sesser Monday 12/13 have been canceled.
Both games will be rescheduled for a later date.
